Devotional: "Time to Put Away Childish Things"
Scripture: “When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.” — 1 Corinthians 13:11 (NASB)
Bishop Dennis shares a story from his childhood: he challenged God to find his lost Super Ball, and God—in His mercy—showed it to him right between his feet. God met him in his “childhood.” But as the Bishop reminds us, he couldn’t get away with that kind of “testing” today. Why? Because he has matured.
Many Christians are trying to live on “child grace” while they should be “mature ambassadors.” We use the excuse, “God will forgive me,” to justify staying in the same patterns. But in the Kingdom, growth means coming into alignment with the King’s character.
Are you still asking God for “Super Balls,” or are you seeking to represent His Government with honor? It’s time to move past the disconnect of living one way on Saturday and another on Sunday.
Reflection: Is there something you’re doing that you justify by saying “God will forgive me?” Ask the Holy Spirit if that is a “childish thing” that He is calling you to put away today.
Kingdom Decree: "I Am a Mature Ambassador"
“I refuse to stay a spiritual infant. I am growing in the knowledge of my King.
I recognize that the Kingdom of God is not a Sunday religion, but a daily government. I repent for the disconnect in my life and I choose to represent the King with honor 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Sin has no dominion over me because I have been raised into the life of Christ. I am not a mirror of the world; I am an Ambassador of the Kingdom of Light. I submit to the Lord of the ‘Now,’ and I walk in the culture of His holiness.”
