Devotional: "Is He Your King or Just Your Safety Net?"
Focus: Moving from survival to submission.
Scripture: “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.”
— Matthew 7:21 (NASB)
Bishop Dennis poses a challenging question in this teaching: “Is He supreme in authority in your life?”
In today’s “lawless” world, we value freedom above all else—often to our own detriment. We want a Savior to get us out of trouble, but we hesitate to have a Lord who tells us how to live. But in a Kingdom, you cannot separate the King from His laws.
Bishop Dennis admits that even after 46 years, he had to repent of “foolishness” and “wasting time.” This wasn’t about a deliberate move to sin, but a slow drift away from total submission. Grace isn’t a cloak for lawlessness; it is the King’s mercy inviting us back to His standard of holiness.
Reflection: Are you living in “survival mode”—only calling on Jesus when you need a Savior—or are you living in “submission mode,” where He is the King of your time, your money, and your actions?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I acknowledge You as the Supreme Authority. I repent for treating Your grace as an excuse for foolishness. Today, I move from survival to submission. Be the King of every area of my life. Amen.
Kingdom Decree: “The Decree of Lordship”
Focus: A bold declaration on the authority of Christ.
Jesus is not a suggestion; He is the Sovereign.
We reject the spirit of lawlessness that says we can have a Savior without a Lord. If He is not Supreme in Authority over your time, your heart, and your conduct, then He is not ruling your territory.
The Kingdom of God has a culture of holiness. We are the salt and the light, and we refuse to let our light go out by blending in with a lawless world. We submit to the King, we honor His laws, and we walk in His rule and reign.
