Devotional: "Don't Let Familiarity Block Your Blessing"
[Just an FYI for those interested in the IOC. The initial service will be this weekend. I will announce the times soon. You can visit LIVE.CFIfamily.com to see the service times (when I update that page). We’ve waited for this … it’s finally here. I hope to see you there.]
Scripture: “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and among his own relatives and in his own household.” — Mark 6:4 (NASB)
Bishop Dennis reminds us that how we perceive a person determines how much we can receive from them. In his hometown, people saw Jesus only as Joseph’s son—a local carpenter. Because they were “familiar” with Him, they couldn’t receive the miraculous.
In the Kingdom, honor is a currency. When we honor a Pastor, a Bishop, or a Teacher by recognizing their office, we aren’t “puffing them up.” We are actually positioning ourselves to receive the reward that comes with that office.
If you treat the anointing as “common,” you lose access to the “extraordinary.” Today, take a look at how you treat the men and women of God in your life. Are you seeing them through the eyes of familiarity, or are you honoring the anointing the King has placed upon them?
Reflection: Is there someone in your life whose counsel you’ve ignored because you’re too “familiar” with them? Ask God to help you see the anointing, not just the person.
Kingdom Decree: “I Honor the Anointing”
“I refuse the spirit of familiarity that steals my miracles.
In the Kingdom of God, I recognize that honor is the key to the reward. I choose to honor the gifts Christ has given to the Church—the Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers. I don’t see them after the flesh; I see them according to the anointing of the King.
I will walk in reverence in the assembly, and I will give honor where honor is due. By recognizing the office, I open the door for the King’s power to flow into my life. I am a person of protocol, and I am positioned for the reward.”
